Victor Osimhen will almost certainly leave Napoli soon.

The Nigerian star has been linked with several top clubs in Europe, who will be competing for his signature.

Although attracting the attention of top clubs is awesome, the African Footballer of the Year has to be cautious when choosing his next destination.

The 25-year-old has become one of the most sought-after strikers in the world. He is usually mentioned alongside Harry Kane and Erling Haaland as one of the best strikers in the world.

He is in his fourth season in Italy with Napoli, and they reached their peak last season with their first Serie A title in three decades, per ESPN.

Their defence of the title this season was weak. They have had three coaches and will likely miss out on a European spot.

For Osimhen, playing in the later stages of the Champions League is probably his goal. The Super Eagles star could look at other options with his club struggling to compete consistently.

French giants PSG have reportedly shortlisted Osimhen to replace the departing Kylian Mbappe, per The Athletic. Clubs from England and Spain have also been linked with the former Lille striker. Here are four clubs Osimhen should avoid joining.

Clubs Osimhen should avoid joining

PSG

PSG is a dream club for any footballer. It is a club with deep pockets, an elite coach and consistent success in the league. Osimhen would definitely be the first-choice striker if he signs for them. However, evidence shows that playing for the club is not always easy.

Their fanbase is demanding, and any drop in form will be met with ridicule or protests. Lionel Messi and Neymar, two football legends, found out during their time at the club.

Moreover, new players who've joined recently, like Goncalo Ramos and Ousmane Dembele, have struggled to make a mark under Luis Enrique. Osimhen's timing would need to be perfect for the move to PSG. The club is currently going through a cultural shift.

They are abandoning the ‘Galactico’ strategy and focusing more on building a team from the ground up. That will need time to bear fruit.

Chelsea

The Blues have been on a downward spiral since their 2021 Champions League triumph.

Despite signing many top players for staggering amounts of money, they are yet to taste success. They have been awful in the last two seasons. With Nicolas Jackson struggling to score consistently, Osimhen would be perfect for the club.

However, Chelsea are still a dysfunctional team that needs time to grow and gel. Therefore, Osimhen is probably past the period of joining a project like Chelsea. They have an impatient owner and a team in shambles, which is a recipe for disaster.

Manchester United

Any footballer dreams of playing for Manchester United, the biggest club in England. Since 2013, the club has failed to recapture their former glory. Poor management by the top brass, dreadful decisions in the transfer market, and lack of consistency in managerial appointments have condemned the Red Devils to one of the worst periods in their history.

Osimhen joining the club when they are looking to rediscover their identity won't be good. The club has already taken steps to improve and get back to their best and already have a young striker in Rasmus Hojlund. The Dane, just like many strikers before him, has struggled to settle at the club.

Few top signings since 2013 have made it at Old Trafford. Paul Pogba, Andel Di Maria, Jadon Sancho, Romelu Lukaku, Antony, and other signings have failed to light up Old Trafford. Moreover, since the team has struggled to win the Premier League and other big trophies, Osimhen will be seen as the saviour, as many players mentioned above.

If he fails to perform consistently, he will be labelled a failure.

Barcelona

The Spanish giants are a club in disarray. They are struggling financially, a predicament that will take time to end.

Therefore, Osimhen needs a well-run club, and at the moment, that title goes to Arsenal, Real Madrid and Manchester City. Barcelona's squad isn't good enough to challenge the big boys, and the Super Eagles star needs service to thrive.

Barcelona would be a wrong move for Osimhen at this point in his career. Gavi, Pedri, and Lamine Yamal would be great alongside Osimhen, but he will unlikely fit alongside the La Masia graduates. It is highly unlikely that he will join the club.

Osimhen warned against joining Chelsea

Sports Brief previously reported on fans cautioning Osimhen on joining Chelsea this summer.

Fans are concerned that Osimhen's career will be destroyed if he joins the club. Mauricio Pochettino's side are currently experiencing another forgettable season in the Premier League.
