Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick for Al-Nassr in their 6-0 demolition of Al-Wehda in the Saudi Professional League on May 4 but curiously refused to claim the match ball.

The veteran has continued his fine form this season, making it 32 league goals even though his team are most likely not winning the title, with Al-Hilal topping the standings.

Per MessivsRonaldo App, it was the 66th hat-trick of Ronaldo's professional career and the 10th time he has netted a perfect one: right foot, left foot, and a header.

Ronaldo refuses match ball

Per footage circulating on social media, the Portuguese veteran did not go home with the match ball as is customary for hat-trick scorers, despite his triple against Al-Wehda.

The footage appears to show him asking referee, Sultan Al Harbi, to sign the match ball. The official seems to decline, with Ronaldo then handing the ball to an administrator.

From the video, it appears Ronaldo had rejected the ball because the referee refused to sign it, although no reason has ben given for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's decision to walk away without the customary 'prize'.

The 39-year-old shared a message on his Instagram page to the fans later, posting five pictures captioned, 'Feeling great, thanks team and fans! 🌟⚽⚽⚽'. None of the images showed him holding that match ball.

Ronaldo is on course to set the record for most goals scored in a single Saudi Pro League season. He is two shy of breaking Abderrazak Hamdallah’s record of 34, set in the 2018/19 season.

Ronaldo's sister praises Saudi Arabia's culture

Sports Brief also previously reported on Ronaldo's sister praising Saudi Arabia’s culture of respect and safety, which has helped the family settle in the country.

Katie Aveiro, who moved to the Middle East when her brother transferred to the league and has adapted seamlessly, claimed no one disrespects them in Riyadh.
