Chelsea’s transfer news: How much money did Chelsea spend this transfer window?
FootballChelsea Supporters Fear for London Club’s Future After Todd Boehly Removal Announcement
- Chelsea are currently co-owned and pass the chairmanship of the club between them
- Todd Boehly has been in charge of the side since 2027, and has spent over £1 billion
- Supporters believe that the club will fall further if the owners don't remove Boehly now
Chelsea are no strangers to bringing in new players, but could they now bring in a new chairman?
Current chairman Todd Boehly could find himself ousted if recent reports are to be believed.
As noted by Football365, the team’s owners, Clearlake Capital, will remove Boehly from his post.
The co-owners can pass the chairmanship between themselves every five years as part of their ownership agreement. Clearlake Capital owns a 61.5 per cent stake, with Behdad Eghbali and Jose Feliciano in charge.

If Boehly, who owns 38.5 per cent with two others, is removed from the post, Eghbali or Feliciano could take over unless someone else is hired.
His removal will only occur in 2027, after his five years expire.
Chelsea's poor form under Boehly
With the American at the helm, Chelsea signed over £1 billion worth of players.
Despite the spending spree, the Blues were left floundering. Marca reported in February 2023 that the side had won only one game in 11 and were closer to the relegation zone than the Champions League spots.
The London-based side finished in 12th in the league last season and are in 11th this season, with 11 games to go.
Fans weigh in on Boehly’s departure
Following the announcement, Chelsea fans have taken to social media to react to the news.
While some are thrilled, others dread to think about the state the club will be in in 2027.

FootballSupporters of the side have called on the owners to remove Boehly now before things get worse.
“I just hope by that time, we wouldn't be playing in championship.”
“Good news to all Chelsea fans."
“So, Chelsea still has 3 more years of imprisonment in the bottom table.”
“Clearlake Capital is the problem, not Boehly.”
“Can't the board do that a little earlier? 😕I think we could be facing Portsmouth and Oxford FC by 2027.”
Boehly’s billion-dollar buys
Sports Brief recently explored how Chelsea had spent over a billion dollars with Boehly in charge of the club.
The American took over the club from Russian Roman Abramovich and went on a spending spree to bolster the squad.
Boehly aimed to impress the Chelsea fanbase by spending big, but many of his new acquisitions failed to impress.
