Does Sadio Mane deserve to be classed together with Darwin Nunez?

Some Liverpool fans don't believe so, seeing it as the ultimate sign of disrespect.

Nunez has been in the news lately, with his finishing rate in front of goal continuing to make headlines.

The Uruguayan has developed a reputation for missing easy chances but somehow manages to put away the difficult ones.

Despite missing more than the scores, one Liverpool fan account pointed out that the former Benfica man has scored the same goals as Mane in their first two seasons.

The comparison hasn't gone down well with everyone, with some feeling it was a sign of disrespect to put Nunez in the same boat as the Senegalese star.

The Al-Nassr attacker scored 120 goals from the club from 269 games, Transfermarkt noted, and was a massive part of Jurgen Klopp's English Premier League title-winning side.

Mane also finished the 2018/19 season as the league's top scorer.

Fans react to Mane and Nunez comparisons

@KayLFC05_:

"Mané was a £35million WINGER whose first season ended early because of injury. In his second season, he scored TEN goals in the UCL, guiding us to a final in which he scored. When the £85m man does this, let me know. Don’t EVER compare Núñez to him. So disrespectful on so many levels."

@LeVraiJusticier:

"Stop this massive disrespect to Mane. Mane, since the first day, was 10 times the player Nunez is."

@DrAbdinasser:

"Sadio converted almost all his chances. Nunez is responsible for almost half of the big chances LFC failed to convert."

@ThiagoTime_:

"Trust the process until you watch football with your eyes rather than in numbers. Sadio Mane was x3 the player Darwin is—and that’s not meant to offend Darwin; it just shows the level Mane was at."

Klopp defends misfiring Nunez

Sports Brief reported how Jurgen Klopp defended Nunez as the striker had a terrible showing against Newcastle United.

The Uruguayan had a lot of chances against the Magpies but failed to convert any, which has become a trend this season.

Liverpool won the game 4-2 despite his wasted chances, and Klopp defended the striker after the game over his performance.
