Guardiola's City vs. Ten Hag's United

Man City vs. Man Utd (6-3, Oct 2022)

Guardiola and ten Hag faced each other for the first time as managers of City and United on October 2, 2022 in a Premier League clash.

Ten Hag had a baptism of fire in that matchup, with City crushing United 6-3. The Red Devils had the worst possible start, allowing four goals in the first half. Phil Foden and Erling Haaland each scored twice to get the rout started.

Antony pulled a goal back for United in the 56th minute, but City immediately responded. Haaland and Foden completed their hat-tricks in the 64th and 73rd minutes to make it 6-1, per The Guardian.

Anthony Martial made the score respectable with two late goals, but it was still a humiliating opening game for ten Hag in the Manchester derby.

Man Utd vs. Man City (2-1, Jan 2023)

Ten Hag and United exacted revenge on City a couple of months later in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford, beating them 2-1.

The Red Devils looked like they were headed for a fourth consecutive loss against City after Jack Grealish opened the scoring in the 60th minute.

Buoyed by the home crowd, United came storming back, scoring two goals in a four-minute span.

Bruno Fernandes tied the match at 1-1 with a goal in the 78th minute before Marcus Rashford put United ahead with a strike in the 82nd minute.

Man City vs. Man Utd (2-1, June 2023)

The third meeting between the two Manchester bosses was a big one as City and United faced off in the FA Cup final. It was the first time in the history of these two storied clubs that a Manchester derby was staged in a cup final.

With the championship and the ultimate bragging rights at stake, it was City who got the dream start in the final.

Ilkay Gundogan scored the opening goal just 12 seconds into the match, with his right-footed volley from just outside the penalty box finding the back of the net.

United battled back, however, and found the equaliser in the 33rd minute through a penalty by Bruno Fernandes.

Manchester City regained the advantage in the 51st minute, with Gundogan the goal-scorer once again. They held on to that advantage to claim the second of their three major trophies last season.

Man Utd vs. Man City (0-3, October 2023)

The reigning champions continued their dominance over United, crushing them 3-0 in their first league meeting this season at Old Trafford.

Haaland opened the scoring in the 26th minute via a penalty. He doubled his tally in the 49th minute before Foden sealed the victory with a late goal in the 80th minute.

Key games on Matchday 27

Sports Brief recently reported on the must-see Premier League games on Matchday 27.

Before the Manchester derby, Liverpool will face Nottingham Forest on the road on Saturday.

Arsenal will also have an away match, with the Gunners facing Sheffield United on Monday.
