Manchester City vs Manchester United Preview

Form Guide

City will head into the Manchester derby in excellent form.

The defending champs are unbeaten in their last nine league matches, recording eight wins and one draw.

They climbed to second in the table as a result, trailing leaders Liverpool by just one point.

United, on the other hand, are coming off a 2-1 loss to Fulham. That defeat at Old Trafford snapped their four-match winning streak in the league.

The Red Devils are currently sixth in the Premier League with 44 points, 15 behind second-placed City.

Recent Head-to-Head Matchups

Manchester City have fared well against Manchester United lately, winning five of their last six matches, per Soccerway.

They stamped their class over the Red Devils in their first league meeting this season, recording a 3-0 victory at Old Trafford.

Erling Haaland opened the scoring in the 26th minute to give City a 1-0 lead at the break. He doubled his tally in the 49th minute before Phil Foden completed the rout in the 80th minute.

Team News

Speaking of Haaland, he has been in outstanding form since returning from a foot injury. He displayed his attacking prowess in the FA Cup tie against Luton Town on Tuesday night, scoring five goals in Manchester City's 6-2 victory.

The win came at a price for City, though, as Jack Grealish once again went off injured, per Goal.com. He was replaced by Jeremy Doku.

Kevin De Bruyne managed to recover from a hamstring issue and started the game against Luton, assisting four of Haaland's five goals.

Pep Guardiola will rely on that partnership for the crunch clash against United.

Writer's Prediction

City ease past United at the Etihad Stadium.

Who reached the FA Cup quarters?

Sports Brief has also recently reported on the 2024 FA Cup quarter-finalists.

Apart from Man City, Newcastle and Leicester City also advanced to the last 8.

Coventry City reached the quarters as well after a win over Maidstone United.
