Who are the 2024 FA Cup quarterfinalists?

Manchester City

Manchester City remained on course to defend their FA Cup title, crushing Luton Town 6-2 in their fifth-round clash on Tuesday night.

Erling Haaland starred for the reigning champs in this contest, scoring five goals. The Norwegian star opened the scoring in the third minute and added two more goals in the 18th and 40th minutes to complete the hat-trick before the half-time break.

He continued toying with Luton's defence in the second half, scoring twice in a three-minute span just before the hour mark.

Kevin De Bruyne also was exceptional in the victory, assisting four of Haaland's goals in this contest, per Sports Illustrated.

Newcastle United

The Magpies booked their place in the quarter-finals of the 2024 FA Cup after beating the Blackburn Rovers in a penalty shootout on Tuesday night.

Martin Dubravka starred for Newcastle in the fifth-round tie, saving Dominic Hyam's penalty to secure their spot in the last 8.

Leicester City

The Foxes reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup for the first time since their title win in 2021 after beating Bournemouth 1-0 on Tuesday night.

Abdul Fatawu led Leicester City to victory, scoring the game's lone goal during extra time.

Coventry City

Coventry City will join the big boys in the 2024 FA Cup quarter-finals after they defeated Maidstone United on Tuesday night.

The Sky Blues stamped their class over the non-league team, beating them 5-0 in the fifth round. Ellis Simms quickly ended Maidstone United's dreams of reaching the last 8, scoring a hat-trick in the first half.

Tavares Desiderio completed the rout for Coventry City, scoring a brace late in the second half.

Four more QF spots up for grabs

More fifth-round action will be coming our way later tonight in the FA Cup.

Chelsea will host Leeds United, Liverpool will take on Southampton, Nottingham Forest will lock horns with Manchester United, and Wolverhampton Wanders will square off against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Haaland's highest-scoring matches

Sports Brief also recently reported on Haaland's highest-scoring games.

He has scored at least five goals in a single match three times in his pro career.

Haaland scored nine goals against Honduras in the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
