Mikel Arteta has been dealt a triple injury blow ahead of Arsenal's clash against rivals Manchester City on Sunday, August 6.

The two team's impressive campaign saw them set up a date against each for the Premier League curtain-raiser.

However, The Mirror reports that Arsenal could face the reigning without three players in the shape of Oleksandr Zinchenko, Folarin Balogun, and Declan Rice.

Arsenal's injury woes

The three Gunners missed their side's 5-3 thrilling win over Barcelona in a pre-season friendly staged in the United States due to injury.

Zinchenko has not played since the start of May during Arsenal's 2-0 win at Newcastle, with his injury keeping him out of the pre-season.

Rice, meanwhile, is understood to have picked up a knock during training, while Balogun, who is facing an uncertain future with the north Londoners, is having a foot problem.

The youngster has been linked with a possible summer exit, with Goal reporting he is among the players who could seal moves away in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Arteta's charges are scheduled to face Monaco on Wednesday in the Emirates Cup, just four days before they battle City.

EPL legend makes title prediction

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Arsenal legend Paul Merson has made his Premier League title prediction for next season, with the 2023/24 campaign underway.

A number of teams, including reigning champions Man City, Arsenal, and United, will be bidding to secure the domestic crown next term.

The Gunners came close to carting home the trophy last season but were beaten to it by City in the final weeks of the campaign.
