Former Ghanaian winger, Bernard Don Bortey, has boldly claimed that he was a better taker of free kicks than Al-Nassr's veteran forward, Cristiano Ronaldo.

The ex-Hearts of Oak forward is one of the most talented footballers to ever play in the Ghanaian Premier League, winning several trophies with the Accra-based club.

Bortey also enjoyed success with Ghana's youth teams but had a short stint with the Black Stars, making just seven appearances for the four-time African champions.

During his playing days, the Ghanaian was noted for his set piece expertise, scoring many goals from free kicks.

According to Bortey, he was better than Ronaldo and believes his skills from the dead ball needed to be compared to other legends of the game instead.

"Ronaldo lags noticeably," Borrtey told Mother FM, as quoted by Ghana Soccernet. "You must compare me with Roberto Carlos, [Luis] Figo, [Andrea] Pirlo, [Francesco] Totti, Juninho, Ronaldinho, and others - but not with Ronaldo."

Although Bortey failed to live up to expectations when he moved abroad, he remains a legendary figure in Ghanaian football.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo, arguably the greatest player of all time, has been in sensational form in the Saudi Pro League, leading Al-Nassr to second place in the ongoing campaign.

He has scored 33 goals and provided 10 assists in the ongoing campaign, per Transfermarkt.

Don Bortey discloses coaching dreams

Sports Brief also previously reported that Accra Hearts of Oak legend, Bortey dreams of coaching the best football clubs in the world.

The ex-Ghana winger has expressed desire to coach Spanish giants, Real Madrid and Barcelona, as well as Italian titans, Juventus.

Bortey began his coaching career after he was named U14 coach of Hearts of Oak last year but clearly has big managerial ideas.

Ronaldo wants Fernades to join Al-Nassr

Sports Brief also reported that Ronaldo reportedly urged Al-Nassr to sign Manchester United captain, Bruno Fernandes, in the summer.

The Red Devils are set for a major squad overhaul at the end of the season, which could see several first-team players offloaded as they rebuild.

The club have already confirmed the exit of Raphael Varane, who is set to depart the Old Trafford landlords after three years at the English club.
