Sports Brief has looked at the five best teams in the Eastern and Western Conferences ahead of tip-off tomorrow. Here are the week 1 power rankings according to the NBA.

Top 10 NBA teams ahead of tip-off

1. Golden State Warriors

The defending champions are obviously the best team in the NBA. The core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green are as good as ever. The young core also gives the veterans a solid supporting cast.

2. Milwaukee Bucks

Two-time NBA MVP and 2021 NBA Finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks lost in the second round last season to a gritty Boston Celtics side. Second option All-Star Khris Middleton is out after wrist surgery but they should be okay.

3. Boston Celtics

The Celtics have endured a turbulent summer. Head coach Ime Udoka was suspended for the whole season, but they still have the same team that made a finals run last season. Therefore, they are still a giant in the east.

4. Phoenix Suns

The Suns were stunned in the second round by Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks, according to the New York Times. Most of their fans would want to think that was a fluke. They head into the new season with a point to prove.

5. LA Clippers

Most fans and pundits have tipped the Clippers to win it this season. Two-time Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard is back, according to the NBA. Paul George is healthy and they added a veteran point guard in John Wall, meaning they will cause problems.

6. Philadelphia 76ers

The Sixers were again eliminated in the second round of the playoffs last season. However, Joel Embiid and James Harden remain a formidable duo.

7. Denver Nuggets

The Warriors dusted Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets in the first round last season, according to The Athletic. However, the return of Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Junior makes them a dangerous team.

8. Memphis Grizzlies

The Grizzlies shocked many in the NBA last season by finishing second in the West. They will be looking to run it back this season, led by All-Star Ja Morant.

9. Miami Heat

Miami Heat are renowned for their winning culture and came so close last season. This season, veteran Jimmy Butler is looking to lead them to the promised land again.

10. Brooklyn Nets

The Nets are probably the most underachieving team in recent memory. However, with Ben Simmon's addition, the Nets, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving have a defensive mind.

Boston Celtics suspend coach Udoka

Sports Brief earlier reported on Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka getting suspended as Celtics head coach for the entire 2022/2023 season, as a result of his relationship with a female staff member.

Celtics has adjudged Udoka's actions as a violation of team policies, and thus Joe Mazzulla will take over as the interim head coach. Udoka led Celtics to the NBA finals last season, where they lost to Golden State Warriors.
