NBA outfit Boston Celtics has decided to suspend its head coach Ime Udoka for the entire season. Udoka was found culpable of violating team policies.

Celtics has indicated that further communication will be made later if Udoka will remain at the club.

The Boston Celtics today announced that the team has suspended head coach Ime Udoka for the 2022-2023 season for violation of team policies. A decision about his future with the Celtics beyond this season will be made at a later date. The suspension takes effect immediately.

Udoka was on the spot for the better part of Wednesday, 21st September after it had emerged that he had a consensual relationship with a female member of the staff team.

The Nigerian-American head coach released an apology statement, as NBC Sports reports.

I want to apologize to our players, fans, the entire Celtics organization, and my family for letting them down. I am sorry for putting the team in this difficult situation, and I accept the team's decision. Out of respect for everyone involved, I will have no further comment.

Assistant head coach Joe Mazulla has taken over on an interim basis. The Celtics squad is set to resume for preseason on October 2nd ahead of their first game of the season on October 18th.
