Mike became an integral part of the Sauber crew fast. He worked his way up from data analysis engineer to race engineer for Felipe Massa in 2003. Krack was promoted to Chief Engineer when BMW partnered with Sauber.

Despite a successful 2008 season in which BMW Sauber driver Robert Kubica was a title contender and race winner in Canada, the team's management chose to halt the car's development that year to concentrate on the 2009 Formula One season. Displeased, Krack departed from BMW Sauber.

The motorist engineer had several positions in Formula 3 after he left. In a subsequent stint, he was back at BMW, leading the DTM squad as chief engineer. Once again, departing BMW, he joined Porsche at the end of 2012. When he was with Porsche, he was named head of track engineering for the WEC team.

It was 2014 when Mike made his way back to BMW. He oversaw the Formula E, IMSA, and GT programs then. On January 14, 2022, it was reported that Mike had succeeded Otmar Szafnauer as Team Principal of Aston Martin F1. Afterwards, Szafnauer joined the Alpine F1 squad.
