As noted by the BBC, the second and third-placed teams in La Liga played out to a goalless draw, while Barcelona beat Girona.

Footage from the game showed the trio can work well together as an attacking threat, producing some sublime skills to fashion one of Real Madrid's many chances.

Not short of scoring chances

The draw with Sociedad was the first time Madrid have failed to score this season, but they definitely weren't short of chances.

Managing Madrid reports that Los Blancos had 20 shots during the game, with 13 of those being taken outside the box and seven from inside the 18-yard area. Seven of the 20 shots forced a save from the Sociedad keeper.

Vinicius had the most chances

From the three players up front, Vinicius had the most attempts for Madrid, as he managed to get away four shots. Benzema and Rodrygo managed just two shots each.

A mixed season so far

Despite their attacking promise, the front three have failed to fire as expected this season. While they have bagged quite a few goals, many were expecting them to blow away some of the defences in the league.

Here's how they have fared thus far.

Fans impressed with trio

Despite the criticism of the team's recent performances, some supporters are impressed with the link-up play between the trio.

@ValvRmfc:

"Vinicius, Benzema, Rodrygo. Their link-up play is so beautiful."

@_collins_a:

"I really like how Vinicius, Benzema and Rodrygo are switching positions."

@indie_football_:

"I really like how Vinicius, Benzema and Rodrygo are switching positions. Their ability to create these mesmerising linkages in the final third is a thing of artistry."

@Loconteee:

"This football has been absolutely brilliant – moving through central zones has “shockingly” opened the wings for brilliant Vinícius & Rodrygo to take advantage. Benzema is such an unbelievable focal point, so easy to move through centrally, especially with Valverde in midfield."

@iamchaseio:

"Rodrygo is amazing- Just need to play like this every game! Vinicius needs to do better with his end products. Good to see Benzema getting back to his best."

Casillas unhappy with Madrid attackers

Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas is unimpressed with Real Madrid's attacking trio, Sports Brief has reported.

The Spanish giants have experienced inconsistent performances this season and have lost ground to Barcelona at the top of the table.

Real Madrid's disappointing goalless draw with Real Sociedad has not sat well with the former goalkeeper, who is frustrated with the club's front three.
