Former Kenyan President, Uhuru Kenyatta, was among the enthusiastic crowd of over 19,000 basketball fans who gathered at the TD Garden arena in Boston, US, to witness the NBA playoff showdown between the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics on Wednesday, April 24.

In a stunning turn of events, the Heat pulled off a remarkable upset against the top-seeded Celtics, evening the Eastern Conference playoff series with a 111-101 triumph at TD Garden.

Kenyatta, known for his passion for basketball, was easily recognizable in his green baseball cap and black puffy jacket.

Even after retirement, the former Commander in Chief has not lost his enthusiasm for the sport.

As reported by Citizen, the NBA committed to supporting the development of basketball in Kenya and announced plans to implement grassroots programmes to nurture talents in the country.

Miami Heat pull off the unexpected

The Miami Heat's performance was nothing short of extraordinary, despite missing key players Jimmy Butler and Terry Rozier due to injuries.

As reported by ESPN, they nearly equalled the NBA playoff record with an impressive 23 three-pointers, leaving the Celtics struggling with only 12 successful shots from beyond the arc.

Despite standout performances from Boston's Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, who scored 33 and 28 points, the Celtics fell short against the resolute Heat squad.

The Heat's unexpected win marked a significant turnaround from their earlier 20-point loss in the series, surprising many who anticipated Celtics dominance in the playoffs.
