The long-standing rivalry between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid was reignited in the most recent instalment of the El Derbi Madrileño (known in English as the Madrid derby).

Prior to the game, all eyes were on Vinicius, but during the match, Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was involved in an episode with an Atletico Madrid fan, who called him a traitor.

Courtois, who spent three successful seasons with the Rojiblancos, has been public enemy No.1 to the Atletico fans after he crossed carpets to Real Madrid via Chelsea.

But the Belgian goalkeeper did not hesitate to respond to the taunt by the fan with a gesture - the 30-year-old showed a tattoo of the Champions League trophy to that Atletico fan as seen in a video posted on Twitter.

This season's derby between the crosstown rivals staged on Sunday at the Wanda Metropolitano, reached a different level of acrimony.

Largely due to the racial slur comment by Pedro Bravo, President of the Association of Spanish Agents, tagging Vinicius as a monkey - during his submission on television.

His submission intensified the rivalry which saw some section of Atletico fans filmed chanting racist songs at Vinicius outside the stadium moments before the Madrid derby on Sunday.
