  • Jesse Lingard’s brother takes issue with Manchester United for failing to give the star a good sendoff after nine years at the club
  • Lingard doesn’t look like he will be renewing his contract with The Red Devils. He is expected to leave and seek regular game time elsewhere
  • The 29-year-old has been with Manchester United his whole career, only going out on loans to Leicester City, Birmingham, Derby and West Ham among others

Jesse Lingard’s brother has hit out at Manchester United for failing to accord the star a befitting Old Trafford send-off. Lingard was an unused substitute in United’s 3-0 win over Brentford on Monday night in United's last home game.

It is widely believed that this is the last season of Jesse Lingard as a Manchester United player. Lingard intends to look for game time elsewhere with the Qatar World Cup on the horizon.

Juan Mata, Edinson Cavani and Nemanja Matic are also calling it quits at the end of the season. They were all applauded by the Old Trafford faithful. Mata and Matic started the game while Cavani was a second-half substitute.

Brother takes a swipe at United's dalliance with Conference League

According to @Utdplug on Twitter, Louie Scott, Lingard’s brother took issue with the Red Devils after the 29-year-old wasn’t accorded similar treatment. Scott took to Instagram to vent out his frustration.

Scott also took a swipe at United’s prospective chances of playing in the less-fancied UEFA Conference League next season.

20 years of blood and sweat and tears, 4 domestic trophies, 3 cup final goals. Not even a farewell. No wonder its uefa conference league next year.
Attacking players for celebrations when the clubs being sold to the super league,ok. Class of 92, busby babes. You are ran by people who don’t even know the offside trap. Classless and the fans need to realise.
Been there since 9 years of age and didn’t even get a sendoff. Well done bro your family are proud.

Lingard’s nine-year stay at The Theatre of Dreams will come to an end at the end of the season. His United career was elevated when he scored in the 2015 FA Cup final against Crystal Palace. He has had loan stints at West Ham, Leicester and Brighton and Hove Albion as he sought out first-team opportunities.

He has made over 200 appearances for the club, scoring 35 goals and setting up 21 goals in the process. It was expected that he will leave the club in January and return to West Ham where he enjoyed a fine loan campaign last season.

United, however, blocked the transfer and he remained in Manchester. He has been used rarely by Ralf Rangnick and it is not yet clear where his next destination will be.

United beat Brentford to return to winning ways

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Raphael Varane scored his first goal for Manchester United as the Red Devils thrashed Brentford 3-0. Further goals from Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo helped Manchester United back to winning ways.

It was United’s last game at Old Trafford. Their remaining games of the campaign will be played away to Brighton and Hove Albion and Crystal Palace.

United have led a disappointing season. They have missed out on any major silverware and are also set to miss out on Champions League football next season.
