As Times LIVE noted, the Tunisian side beat Sundowns 1-0 in the second leg at Loftus Versfeld and won the game 2-0 on aggregate.

A second-half goal by Raed Bouchniba gave them the lead, meaning that the South African side needed to score three goals to progress to the final.

Despite their best efforts, Masandawana could not find the back of the net. Sundowns had 27 shots during the game, getting only six on target.

Speaking after the game, Mokwena said that he was proud of his team’s performance.

“I am very proud of them. They played well and gave everything,” he said.

Mokwena added that his side were technically superior throughout the game and created many chances, but he didn’t think they would have scored.

“We could have played for another 90 minutes and wouldn’t have scored,” he added.

Mokwena wants to remain Sundowns coach

Earlier this week, Mokwena asked for more time as the coach so he could deliver the Champions League trophy, News24 reported.

When asked about the comment, he doubled down, saying that he loved the club, the players and the supporters and wanted to be there.
