Man United have reportedly intensified their search for a permanent manager to take over from Ralf Rangnick.

Rangnick was appointed to the role back in December 2021 on an interim basis, succeeding Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who had been sacked at the time.

However, the German is expected to quit the position at the end of the season as he takes on a consultancy role at the club.

According to the publication, Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino and his Ajax counterpart Erik ten Hag are among the leading contenders shortlisted for the job.

However, Pochettino is understood to have an edge over Ten Hag owing to his experience in the Premier League managing Tottenham and Southampton.

The Argentine is currently chasing silverware with PSG, with the French giants firmly in the Champions League.

The same can be said of Ten Hag who successfully led Ajax to the Champions League knockouts where they are scheduled to face Benfica in the round of 16.

A look at Ralf Rangnick's spell

Meanwhile, Rangnick has been in charge of the Red Devils in 15 matches across competitions, winning eight, drawing five, and losing just twice.

His last outing with his United charges was against Leeds on Sunday, February 20, where the tie ended 4-2 in his side's favour.
