These swirling speculations gained traction with reports from BBC Sports, indicating that the 65-year-old could be contemplating an exit due to his dissatisfaction with the handling of an internal issue involving Team Principal, Christian Horner, and a female colleague at Red Bull.

Recall that ahead of the 2024 Sakhir testing, allegations surfaced regarding the 50-year-old's purportedly abusive and coercive behaviour towards an unnamed female employee.

Nonetheless, with reports of Newey bringing an end to his 19-year stint at the Milton Keynes team dominating the sports airwaves, Sports Brief spotlights the three potential teams he could join if he leaves Red Bull Racing.

Teams Adrian Newey could join if he departs from Red Bull

Mercedes AMG

Since the switch to ground effect rules in 2022, the German team has been a shadow of its former glory.

The Brackley-based outfit have only secured one race victory and one Sprint win since the beginning of the 2022 season. Unfortunately, the 2024 campaign is shaping up to be even worse.

The potential addition of Adrian Newey, who has designed over 14 championship-winning cars, could be the ‘Midas touch’ that Mercedes needs to regain its form. With the financial resources to attract the British engineer, Mercedes could be an enticing option for Newey if he decides to leave Red Bull.

Aston Martin Aramco

Lawrence Stroll and the Aston Martin hierarchy are renowned for their willingness to spare no expense in pursuit of success for the team.

According to reports from GPblog, the Silverstone-based outfit made a multi-million-dollar offer to Newey at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, hoping to entice him to switch teams.

With discussions around Newey's potential departure from Red Bull gaining credibility over time, it could be the perfect opportunity for Aston Martin to resurface with another enticing offer to lure the British engineer.

Scuderia Ferrari HP

The Italian team appears to wield one of the greatest pulling powers in the history of the sport, and they once again demonstrated this strength by securing the transfer of Lewis Hamilton just weeks before the start of the season.

Joining the Maranello outfit could indeed be an enticing prospect for Newey. With Ferrari, he would have the opportunity to collaborate with some of the finest drivers on the current F1 grid. Team Principal, Frederic Vasseur, would also welcome the chance to work with Newey, as previous reports have often linked the British engineer to the Italian constructor.

Nonetheless, it remains to be seen whether Newey will ultimately opt to leave Red Bull, and if he does, which team he will join will undoubtedly be a storyline worth following closely.

Impact of the 2025 F1 points change

Sports Brief also reported on the potential impact of the proposed change to Formula 1 points system.

The FIA is exploring changes to the current allocation system, especially regarding backmarkers.
