- Ronwen Williams has only played for SuperSport United and wants to win trophies before he eventually retires
- Mamelodi Sundowns have all but wrapped up the transfer for Ronwen Williams, with Ricardo Goss heading the other way
- Brendan Wardle believes that Ronwen Williams is making a mistake by agreeing to join Mamelodi Sundowns
Ronwen Williams’ transfer to Mamelodi Sundowns is close to being finalised but not everyone thinks it’s a good move.
Former SuperSport United goalkeeper, Brandon Wardle, doesn’t think it’s the right career move for the Bafana captain.
Speaking to KickOff, Wardle questioned whether Williams would get ample game time at Masandawana.
Sundowns currently have Denis Onyango, Kennedy Mweene, Reyaad Pieterse, Ricardo Goss and Jody February as available goalkeepers. February has just returned from his loan deal at Swallows while Goss could be heading to SuperSport United as part of Williams’ deal.

"Are they guaranteeing Ronwen that he is going to be playing week in and week out? I think he is making a bad move," Wardle said.
"It is a bad move for him to be where he is not guaranteed of being number one when he is our Bafana Bafana first choice, he added.
Wardle also questioned what would happen to the national team if the first-choice goalkeeper was warming the bench at his club side.
Wardle believes that with Oyango and Mweene having achieved all that there is to win in football, Sundowns may be thinking about the future when it comes to signing Williams.
As reported by SABC Sport, SuperSport United were planning to sit down this week to discuss Williams’ future at the club amid the interest from Sundowns.
