David James says Liverpool shouldn’t change their club model for any player no matter their importance to the team’s success.
The former Liverpool goalkeeper was referring to the contract situation of Egyptian forward, Mohamed Salah who is entering the final 12 months of his contract with the Reds.
According to a report via the Daily Mirror, James has beckoned on Liverpool not to increase their latest offer to the 29-year-old forward in a desperate move to keep the Egyptian.
“I think the fact that Salah hasn’t signed the contract that has been offered, I don’t think he should or would get a better offer because Liverpool will have that as part of their model. Then it is down to the player.”
Mohamed Salah has confirmed he will be staying at Liverpool next season but he could also leave the Reds as a free agent when his deal with the Merseyside club expires next summer.
