Ghana Midfielder and MLS Champion Latif Blessing Leaves Los Angeles FC

Ghanaian midfielder, Latif Blessing has left Los Angeles FC to join New England Revolution, just two months after winning the Major League Soccer championship with the California-based club.

Blessing played a key role in the success of LAFC last term, despite missing most of the post-season.

The former Liberty Professionals player leaves LAFC as the player with the most appearances for the MLS franchise, having played 145 games for the club.

"The New England Revolution have acquired midfielder Latif Blessing from Los Angeles FC in exchange for $400,000 in 2023 General Allocation Money. LAFC could receive additional GAM if certain performance metrics are met," wrote New England Revolution, confirming the arrival of Blessing.

The 27-year-old started his career in the MLS with Sporting Kansas City in 2017 before joining LAFC, where he spent five years and won several trophies including the Supporters Shield Cup.

New England Revolution's Sporting Director and Head Coach, Bruce Arena said Blessing would be a fine addition to the side.

“He is a veteran MLS player with championship caliber experience. Latif’s speed and quickness are welcomed characteristics for our midfield. We look forward to his arrival in pre-season.”

Before leaving for the United States, Blessing was crowned best player in the Ghana Premier League, after winning the golden boot with 17 goals in 2016.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghanaian duo Kwadwo Opoku and Blessing have won their first-ever Major League Soccer trophy with Los Angeles FC.
