Carlo Ancelotti has highlighted two Real Madrid players whom he believes are worthy contenders for the 2024 Ballon d'Or accolade.

Numerous names have surfaced as potential contenders to break Lionel Messi's dominance of the Golden Ball Award.

Who are the favourites for this year's Ballon d'Or?

According to GOAL's power ranking, Jude Bellingham, who has been a revelation since his transfer from Borussia Dortmund to Real Madrid, leads the race, with Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe closely following the Englishman.

In third place, according to the ranking, is Harry Kane, who has been plundering home goals for fun at Bayern Munich, while Manchester City's Phil Foden and Vinicius Junior round out the top five.

While many contenders from the aforementioned ranking could potentially dethrone Messi, Ancelotti has singled out two names.

The 64-year-old believes his two standout performers at Madrid, Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr., are worthy of the prestigious award.

To prevent any controversy or discord among his players, 'Don Carlo' proposed that both players should be recognised with the prize.

“The Ballon d'Or should go to Bellingham and Vinicius,” Ancelotti said as cited by Tribuna.

How Mbappe can beat Bellingham, Vinicius for Ballon d'Or prize?

Meanwhile, Sports Brief previously noted Mbappe's presence in the Ballon d'Or discussion as the competition to unseat Lionel Messi intensifies.

Although he finished third last year, trailing Messi and Erling Haaland, Mbappe remains a formidable contender this season but still has ground to cover.

According to Marcel Desailly, a winner of the 1998 World Cup, Mbappe could fulfil his Ballon d'Or aspirations this year by clinching two major trophies, edging out Bellingham and Vinicius.
