Rudiger was a key squad player at Stamford Bridge for several years but failed to renew his deal with them paving way for his departure.

Metro UK now reports the west Londoners have set their sights on signing De Ligt this summer to fill the void left by the Germany international.

Chelsea's interest in the Dutchman comes at a time they have been linked with a transfer move for Sevilla's Jules Kounde.

TalkSPORT claims Blues boss Thomas Tuchel could move for the Dutchman in a bid to solidify his defence.

Man United linked with a move for De Ligt

However, they are likely to face stiff competition from Man United in their pursuit for the former Ajax superstar.

Reports suggest the Red Devils are keen to have the Juventus ace reunite with Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

De Ligt, who has struggled at the Allianz Stadium since his move to Turin in 2019 thrived under Ten Hag during their time together at Ajax.

The 22-year-old is under contract with the Old Lady until the summer of 2024 and has a release clause of £102m.

Chelsea interested in Man City ace Gabriel Jesus

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Chelsea have reportedly shortlisted Man City attacker Gabriel Jesus for a striking role at Stamford Bridge.

Thomas Tuchel is looking to sign a prolific striker ahead of Romelu Lukaku's expected departure after an underwhelming campaign at Stamford Bridge.

Jesus, who is also wanted by Arsenal is understood to be available this summer for £45million.
