Poland captain Robert Lewandowski is ready for the FIFA World Cup, especially the prospect of playing against Lionel Messi.
Poland will take on Argentina in the final game of Group C on November 30, with Lewandowski and Messi captaining their national teams.
Speaking with the BBC ahead of the tournament in Qatar, Lewandowski said it was a huge honour to face Argentina and Messi on the world stage.
Lewandowski up for the challenge
The Polish captain also touched on the fact that the World Cup was held in the middle of the footballing season this time and the heat of being in Qatar. While he admitted that it would be a challenge, players couldn’t use it as an excuse for why they weren’t performing well. He added that as professionals, they were prepared for anything.

High praise for Polish captain
While Poland is preparing for their opening game against Mexico, they are also focused on ensuring that their captain, Lewandowski, is given the best chance to fulfill his national ambitions as well, SportsMole reported.
"Robert Lewandowski is very important. Argentina has its star (Lionel Messi), we have ours. We will do everything to make him shine as much as possible," Polish keeper Wojciech Szczesny said.
He added that Lewandowski was currently one of the best players in the world at the moment and would be a key part of Poland’s World Cup aspirations.
Lewandowski is the country’s leading appearance-maker and also their all-time leading scorer.
