Hector Bellerin’s move to Barcelona on the final day of the transfer window was one of the big shocks of an already crazy period.
The full-back had his contract terminated by Arsenal to allow him to move to Barcelona on a one-year deal.
Prior to that, he spent a season-long loan deal in La Liga with Real Betis last season, and many expected the club to make his deal permanent.

As reported by Football London, Betis’ president explained why the club did not sign Bellerin from Arsenal.
“Signing Bellerin was unfeasible this year,” Angel Haro said.
He added that because of financial difficulties, they would have had to sell a player to sign Bellerin to avoid Financial Fair Play sanctions.
As a result, Bellerin returned to Arsenal, where his contract was terminated, allowing him to move to Barcelona as a free agent.
Bellerin has played 239 games for Arsenal in all competitions and has been at the English Premier League club for 11 seasons, Transfermarkt confirmed.
