Brazilian midfielder Casemiro has provided a classy response on why he forfeited Champions League football to sign for Manchester United.

Casemiro joined the Premier League giants on a four-year contract with the option to add a further year to the deal this summer.

His transfer raised a lot of eyebrows with many connoisseurs of the game and football fans taken aback by his decision to trade Real Madrid for Manchester United, who will be playing Europa League football this season.

But Casemiro, who won his fifth Champions League title with Madrid in May, appears unconcerned by the fact that he will not be playing in Europe's premier interclub competition.

Asked about not playing in the Champions League this season, Casemiro told ESPN Brasil via SportBIBLE: "Well... I already have five, don’t I?"

The ex-Real Madrid man and his United teammates will discover their fate in the secondary competition, Europa League, after finishing sixth in the Premier League last season.

He has been handed the vacant No.18 shirt, which was previously won by Portuguese attacker Bruno Fernandes, and could make his debut his long-awaited debut for the Red Devils when they cross swords with Southampton at St Mar's Stadium on Saturday, August 27.
