  • British broadcaster and Arsenal fan Piers Morgan spoke against Mikel Arteta in his early days
  • The Gunners are currently topping the Premier League table and next face Tottenham Hotspur
  • Morgan admitted he was wrong about Arsenal and about the impact Antonio Conte would have

Piers Morgan is a man who loves controversy and seems to thrives on it.

He is never scared to give his views on topics and to blow them out of proportion on social media, in print media, or even in digital media.

Morgan's recent interview with Cristiano Ronaldo got the Portuguese star into trouble, and effectively led to his contract being terminated by Manchester United - opening the door for the expensive move to Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia.

He made contrasting views on Mikel Arteta at Arsenal and Antonio Conte at Tottenham previously. Both sets of comments have been proven to be wrong over time, and Morgan has swallowed his pride to 'happily' admit he was wrong.

Morgan recalls his Arteta remarks

As reported by other publications, the British broadcaster called for Arteta to be sacked when the Gunners lost 3-0 to Tottenham, and called the coach's contract renewal 'a reward for abject failure'.

Speaking to the Sun ahead of the most recent game, Morgan admitted he had got it wrong:

''First, I was completely wrong about Arteta. More pleasingly, I was also completely wrong about Spurs and Conte. And as we head into another North London derby this Sunday, I’m happy to admit I’ve never been happier to make a predictive [expletive] of myself,'' he said.

Going into the North London derby, the two clubs are separated by 11 points, with Tottenham having played a game more. Arsenal sits five points clear of Manchester City, who also play in the Manchester derby against Man United this weekend.

Morgan defends Ronaldo's Al-Nassr transfer

Aside being a vocal Arsenal fan, Morgan is also a close friend of Cristiano Ronaldo, using his social media to continually advocate for the veteran striker.

As Sports Brief reported, he rubbished claims Ronaldo is finished, saying the star signed the biggest contract in football and also plays in the only country to defeat Argentina.

The Portuguese signed for Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr after claiming to have turned down offers from other European clubs, in the aftermath of his bombshell interview with Morgan.
