Sports Brief compares United and Liverpool's FA Cup titles ahead of their last-8 clash tomorrow.

Manchester United's FA Cup trophies

The Red Devils have won the FA Cup 12 times, second-most in the tournament's history.

They first won the trophy in 1909, beating Bristol City 1-0 in the final.

United waited 39 years to claim their second championship, with the Red Devils recording a 4-2 victory over Blackpool in the 1948 final.

They captured their third FA Cup title in 1963, beating Leicester City 3-1 in the final to claim their first trophy since the Munich plane disaster.

Manchester United fans will forever remember their fourth FA Cup title, with the Red Devils beating bitter rivals Liverpool 2-1 in the 1977 final to deny them the treble.

Their fifth FA Cup crown came in 1983 when they beat Brighton 4-0 in a replay. Manager Ron Atkinson won the FA Cup again for United in 1985, with Norman Whiteside scoring a fantastic winning goal in extra-time against Everton.

The Red Devils' seventh FA Cup title came in 1990, with United beating Crystal Palace 1-0 in a replay of the final. It was the first of many trophies for manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

United won their eighth FA Cup title in 1994, beating Chelsea 4-0 in the final. Eric Cantona led the way for the Red Devils, scoring a pair of penalties in the second half.

They captured their ninth FA Cup trophy in 1996, defeating Liverpool 1-0 in the final. Cantona once again starred for United, scoring the game's lone goal in the 85th minute.

Manchester United's 10th FA Cup title will live long in the memory of their fans, as that trophy was part of their historic treble in 1999.

Teddy Sheringham and Paul Scholes scored the goals for the Red Devils in their 2-0 win over Newcastle.

Manchester United claimed their 11th FA Cup title in 2004, beating Millwall 3-0 in the final. Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring in the 44th minute before Ruud Van Nistelrooy sealed the win with a brace in the second half.

Their last FA Cup win came in 2016 when they beat Crystal Palace 2-1 in the final. Jesse Lingard starred for United in the win, scoring the match-winner in the 110th minute.

Liverpool's FA Cup trophies

The Reds aren't far behind United in terms of FA Cup trophies, winning the competition eight times in their history.

Liverpool won their first FA Cup title in 1965, beating Leeds United 2-1 in the final.

They waited nine years to capture their second FA Cup trophy, beating Newcastle United 3-0 in the 1974 final.

They lifted their third FA Cup title in 1986, with Liverpool recording a 3-1 win over bitter rivals Everton in the final.

The Reds claimed their fourth FA Cup crown in 1989, beating Everton once again 3-2. Ian Rush starred in the victory, scoring a brace in extra time.

Liverpool bagged their fifth FA Cup title in 1992, beating Sunderland 2-0 in the final.

Their sixth FA Cup triumph came in 2001 when they beat Arsenal 2-1 in the final. Michael Owen led the way for the Reds, scoring a brace in the championship match.

They won their seventh FA Cup title in 2006, beating West Ham United in a dramatic penalty shootout.

Their last FA Cup win came in 2022 when they beat Chelsea in the final. The match went to penalties after both sides failed to score in regulation and extra time. Liverpool held their nerve in the shootout, beating Chelsea 6-5.

Sports Brief recently reported on the Premier League postponements.

Six matches have been postponed this weekend due to the FA Cup.
