  • Six Premier League matches have been postponed this week due to the FA Cup
  • The games of Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City will be played on a later date
  • Liverpool will face Manchester United in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday

The Premier League title race is going down the wire.

Only one point separates the top three teams in the table heading into their final 10 matches of the season.

Fans of Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool will have to wait a while, though, for their league campaigns to resume because of the FA Cup.

Six matches have been postponed this weekend, including the games of title contenders, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City.

The Gunners, who currently lead the table with 64 points, were scheduled to face Chelsea in a mouth-watering clash at the Emirates Stadium.

Liverpool, who are in second place, were scheduled to face Everton on the road in the Merseyside derby. Manchester City's clash with Brighton at the American Express Stadium also was postponed.

The Manchester United vs. Sheffield United, Wolves vs. Bournemouth, and Crystal Palace vs. Newcastle United games were also moved to a later date.

The reason for the postponements is that the quarter-final round of the FA Cup will take place this weekend.

Manchester City will host Newcastle United in their quarter-final clash today, while Manchester United will take on arch-rivals Liverpool in a blockbuster showdown at Old Trafford tomorrow.

Arsenal's Premier League clash with Chelsea was postponed due to the Blues facing Leicester City in the FA Cup tomorrow, per Sporting News.

Postponements affect Premier League title race

The question now is: When will the postponed matches be played?

There are two free midweeks left between the end of this month's international break and the end of the 2023-24 season.

According to The Athletic, the first of those available midweeks falls between Matchdays 34 and 35 from April 23 to 25 (Tuesday to Thursday). The second of those midweeks falls between Matchdays 37 and 38 from May 14 to 16 (Tuesday to Thursday.

Teams that will reach the FA Cup semi-finals will have their Premier League matches postponed once more, meaning they will have to use both midweeks for their rescheduled games.

With Liverpool and Manchester City still in contention for the FA Cup title, their Premier League schedules to end the season will be chaotic, to say the least.

Arsenal and Bayern's past Champions League matchups

Sports Brief recently reported on the Arsenal vs. Bayern Champions League matchup.

They were drawn to face each other in the quarter-finals of this year's European Cup.

They have faced each other four times in the Champions League knockout round before.
