South Africa vs. Tunisia Preview

Form Guide

Bafana Bafana will head into this contest with momentum on their side after beating Namibia in their last group match.

They recorded their first win in this year's AFCON in style, crushing the Brave Warriors by a score of 4-0. Themba Zwane starred for South Africa in that contest, scoring twice in the rout.

Tunisia, on the other hand, have struggled to start the tournament, recording one draw and one loss in their first two group matches.

They find themselves at the bottom of Group E with just one point scored.

They will be without Taha Yassine Khenissi for the remainder of the tournament after he suffered a knee injury in the match against Namibia, per The Standard.

Recent Head-to-Head Matchups

Tunisia are unbeaten in their previous three meetings with South Africa dating back to 2000, recording two wins and one draw.

They last faced each other in the Africa Cup of Nations in 2008, with the Eagles of Carthage recording a 3-1 victory. Santos starred for Tunisia in that contest, scoring goals in the eighth and 34th minutes.

South Africa's road to the last 16

Bafana Bafana only need a draw against Tunisia for them to advance to the round of 16, per Goal.com.

A defeat isn't the end of the world for South Africa as they can still reach the knockout stage even with that result.

They will need Mali to beat Namibia in the other group match for them to qualify as one of the four best third-placed teams.

Tunisia's path to the last 16

Win or go home.

Tunisia need to grab all three points against South Africa this afternoon for them to reach the last 16. Jalel Kadri's side will finish bottom of Group E if they lose or record a draw against Bafana Bafana.
