  • Pitso Mosimane explained the implication of Namibia's win over Tunisia for South Africa
  • The tactician admitted that it would be tough for Bafana Bafana to get out of Group E
  • According to Pitso, Tunisia will be actively seeking a victory against South Africa and Mali.

South African tactician, Pitso Mosimane, has stated that Namibia's victory over Tunisia in Group E has strong implications for Bafana Bafana.

The Brave Warriors caused an upset, stunning the North Africans 1-0 on Tuesday afternoon to win their first-ever game at an Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

Orlando Pirates' forward Deon Hotto scored the only goal of the game in the 88th minute to send their fans back at home into a frenzy.

In the second match of the group, South Africa lost 2-0 to Mali, and Mosimane believes it could be very difficult for Bafana Bafana in their second match of the group.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach argued on SuperSport TV as per iDiski Times:

“I think you can see what’s going to happen now.
“It’s the biggest upset for the whole group, nobody expected that result.
"Everyone said maybe Tunisia will take it, and then it’s between Mali and South Africa.
"So it’s going to be trouble, but that’s the beauty of the game. The game is not played on paper, the game is played on the green grass."

South Africa take on Namibia on Sunday, January 21, in a 'must-win encounter' before their final game against Tunisia three days later.

Percy Tau reacts to Penalty miss

Sports Brief earlier reported that Percy Tau and South Africa had an incredible first half in their Group E opener at the 2023 AFCON against Mali.

Their impressive showing earned them a penalty, and Tau stepped up to take it but blazed it over the bar. The miss haunted Bafana Bafana as they conceded twice in the second half to lose their first match in the tournament.

The penalty came as a result of Bafana Bafana's tireless display in the first half, and it will feel like a missed opportunity for the 1996 champions.
