Ahead of their second-round showdown at the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Senegal stars Kalidou Koulibaly and Idrissa Gueye have fired a strong warning to England.

After qualifying for the next round, Koulibaly said via Complete Sports:

“Don’t party, don’t be happy. We did something good, but it’s only the beginning. England or whoever, we will do everything to win the game. We are Senegal, we fear no-one. Lot’s of teams don’t want to play against us."

On his path, Gueye added:

“The last 16 is not the objective. We see beyond that. We have no limits. We have a squad to go far. Playing like this, we can do something really interesting in this competition.”

Cisse dedicates win over Ecuador to Mane

Meanwhile, Senegal boss Aliou Cisse has dedicated his team's memorable World Cup win over Ecuador to Sadio Mane.

It was initially hoped that the former Liverpool star would feature in the global football showpiece, only for further examinations of his injury to see him ruled out of the competition.

Cisse has now dedicated Senegal's vital win over Ecuador to Mane, who he described as an 'extraordinary man.'

Harry Kane speaks about his fitness level

Sports Brief earlier reported that England marksman Harry Kane has dispelled fears over his fitness, he insists he is fully capable of playing in the World Cup knockout stages.

The Three Lions are set for a round-of-16 showdown with African giants Senegal for a place in the quarter-final, and there has been slight concern that Kane’s fitness might render England short of attacking power up front.

The striker went down injured from a challenge by Iran’s Morteza Pouraliganji last week, despite England cruising to a 6-2 victory.
