Nigeria Qualify For Semifinal of 2022 WAFU Tournament After Draw With Burkina Faso

Nigeria's Under 20 team, known as the Flying Eagles, have qualified for the semifinal of the 2022 West African Football Union (WAFU) after a 2-2 draw against Burkina Faso.

Coach Ladan Bosso and his wards were made to fight hard by their opponents who were determined to win the encounter played on Wednesday evening, 11 May.

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria started the tie impressively and scored their first goal in the 24th minute through Ibrahim Muhammad.

But 10 minutes later, Burkina Faso restored parity, through Moses Konan who beat Nigerian goalkeeper Issah nicely.

And when Burkina Faso were anxiously looking for another goal, Nigeria got a penalty in the 69th minute and it was converted by Ibrahim Yahaya.

Burkina Faso restored parity again at the death through Zenke as the match ended 2-2.

What next for the Flying Eagles of Nigeria?

The Flying Eagles must make sure they do well in their semifinal clash against yet to be known foes as reaching the final is the only ticket for 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
