Super Eagles Invitee Confirms Readiness to Replace Okocha as Nigeria’s New Freekick Specialist

Kwara United midfielder Afeez Babatunde Nosiru has explained that he can replace Jay-Jay Okocha as new Super Eagles freekick specialist if given the chance for him to prove himself.

Nosiru made this known while speaking exclusively to Sports Brief after being invited to the Super Eagles for the coming two friendly games against Mexico and Ecuador.

While reacting to his invitation to the Super Eagles, the former Niger Tornadoes star thanked God for the gift of life and also expressed appreciation to the coaching crew of the national team for the call-up.

Afeez Nosiru Babatunde's reaction

''I must confess that I am very happy with the call-up I got which is a chance for me to make the country proud if selected to play against Mexico and Ecuador.
''Yes, my strength is scoring free-kicks and I can step into the shoes of Okocha in the Super Eagles if I see the chance to express my ability.''

Afeez who is currently being monitored by some clubs in Europe also named former Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel as his mentor and idol claiming that he loves the way the Chelsea legend plays.

Speaking on the club he would love to move to in Europe, Afeez Nosiru disclosed that his dream is to play for Real Madrid or Arsenal.

When is Super Eagles playing against Mexico and Ecuador?

Super Eagles will face Mexico on 29 May and tackle Ecuador on June 3 as both games will be played in America.

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Super Eagles of Nigeria are billed to take on Mexico and Ecuador in friendly matches and Super Eagles handlers failed to name Napoli striker Victor Osimhen among the invitees.

Nigerian Football Federation released the names of the 30 players picked for the friendlies as the first assistant coach of the Super Eagles Salisu Yusuf is expected to lead the team to the United States; the venue of the matches.

However, Osimhen who has been in fine form for Napoli was not listed for the matches and Soccernet reports that the 23-year-old reached out to the handlers to exempt him from the list.
