How Montreal Impact were eliminated

Having suffered a 1-0 loss in the first leg, Wanyama's Montreal needed a victory of at least a 2-0 scoreline during the return leg to guarantee them a chance to qualify for the semis.

However, the home side went on to play out a 1-1 stalemate as Cruz Azul progressed on a 2-1 goal aggregate.

Uriel Antuna scored the tie's opener just moments before the break, with Rudy Camacho equalising in the 79th minute.

Wilfried Nancy's charges were unable to find the winner for the remainder of the tie as they crashed out of the tournament.

Montreal will now shift their attention to their upcoming MLS fixture against Atlanta United set for Saturday, March 19.
