  • Luka Doncic has recorded one 60-point game in his NBA career
  • He scored at least 50 points five times in his time with the Mavs
  • Doncic achieved all of those feats before he turned 24 years old

Luka Doncic turned 24 on February 28 and greetings have been pouring in for the NBA superstar.

It is hard to believe the Slovenian is such a young age, given the accomplishments he has already achieved in basketball’s top professional league.

To commemorate Doncic’s birthday, Sports Brief looks at all the 50-point games he has racked up in his NBA career so far.

‘Luka Magic’ put on one of the most outstanding performances in league history on December 27, 2022, producing a stat line that is simply astonishing.

He scored 60 points, grabbed 21 boards, and recorded ten assists in Dallas’ crazy 126-121 overtime win over the New York Knicks.

This was the first time in NBA history that a player accomplished a 60-point, 20-rebound triple-double.

Doncic’s feat was just the second 60-point triple-double of any kind, joining James Harden, who tallied a 60-11-10 line in 2018.

What made the Slovenian's performance so remarkable was that he set a career-high in both points and rebounds in the same game.

Doncic drops 53 against Detroit

Doncic delivered a shooting masterclass on January 30, 2023, in the game against the Pistons, scoring 53 points in a 111-105 win. This was his fourth 50-plus-point outing of the season and the fifth of his young career.

He shot 17-of-24 from the floor for a high 70.8% clip. Doncic hit five of his 11 3-point attempts and knocked down 14 of his 18 free throws. He pulled off this feat after missing the previous game due to an ankle injury.

Popovich fails to stop Doncic

Doncic ended the year 2022 with a bang, dropping 51 points against the San Antonio Spurs.

Gregg Popovich told reporters before the game that his goal for this contest was to limit Doncic’s output to below 50 after he torched the Knicks for 60 a few days earlier.

That guarantee didn’t end well for the legendary coach. Doncic got off to a scorching start, scoring 22 points in the first quarter. The Mavs needed all of Luka’s 51 points as they narrowly defeated the Spurs 126-125.

Doncic steps up without Porzingis

All the talk heading into this game against the Clippers was how the Mavs would function without Kristaps Porzingis, who was traded to Washington Wizards earlier in the day.

Doncic showed that Dallas would be fine, scoring a then career-high 51 points in the Mavericks’ 112-105 win. He started strongly against the Clips, dropping 28 points in the opening quarter, 21 of which came from beyond the arc.

Luka hits 50-piece vs. Rockets

Doncic gave Dallas fans an early Christmas present, scoring 50 points in their game against the Houston Rockets on December 23, 2022. He made history with that performance as he joined Dirk Nowitzki as the only Dallas players with multiple 50-point outings.

Doncic also became the fourth player in NBA history to record at least 50 points, five rebounds, and five assists in multiple games at 23 or younger.

Can Doncic match Jordan?

Sports Brief recently reported on Michael Jordan’s greatest scoring performances of all-time.

‘His Airness’ had multiple 60-point games, including 63 against the Celtics in the 1986 Playoffs.

Given his offensive prowess, it isn’t far-fetched to see Doncic matching Jordan’s scoring feats.
