Nigeria forward Victor Boniface completed his first Bundesliga campaign in style after scoring in Bayer Leverkusen's victory over Augsburg as the new German champions ended the season invincible.

Boniface opened the scoring as Bayer Leverkusen defeated Augsburg 2-1 at the BayArena to become the first team in the Bundesliga to go a whole season unbeaten.

It was the Super Eagles star's 14th goal of the campaign, wrapping up an incredible year with the club.

Boniface finished off a pass from Amine Adil, who had forced Augsburg's goalkeeper into an early mistake.

Robert Andrich doubled the home side's advantage 15 minutes later but the visitors halved the deficit on the hour mark through Mert Komur.

The Bundesliga champions will now switch their attention to the Europa League and DFB Pokal final as they eye a historic treble.

Meanwhile, Boniface was named the Rookie of the Year earlier this week after scooping four monthly awards in the Bundesliga.

The 22-year-old's campaign was temporarily affected by an injury that ruled him out of the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

However, he came back to end the campaign strongly, scoring 14 league goals and providing nine assists, per Transfermarkt.
