The 26-year-old was in his hotel room in Atlanta when Booker notified him about the ground-breaking trade.

Bridges is arguably the best two-way player in the NBA. He proved that last season when he finished second in the 2022 NBA Defensive Player of the Year voting. He was also named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team.

Bridges on Durant on the Suns

Bridges was a guest on JJ Redick's The Old Man & The Three Podcast, where he spoke about the trade and Durant. He reminisced about his time with the Suns but understands they had to make the trade.

“I like them," Bridges said. "For them, with the new owner and what they’re trying to do, it makes the most sense. I understand they’re trying to win now. Do I think the Suns still could have won with me and Cam there? For sure. But you gotta do KD, man. That offense, and with coach Mont and those guys over there, that’s a helluva fit,” via SI.

The defensive stalwart has already made an impressive start to his Nets career. He scored a career-high 45 points, for his new team as they beat the Miami Heat 116-105 on February 15, per AndScape.

The Nets are 5th in the Eastern Conference with a 34-25 record and have a good chance of making it to the postseason.

Durant reacts to joining the Suns

Sports Brief earlier reported on Durant speaking after completing his move to the Suns before the Feb 9 trade deadline.

He said his new team can win the title because they have all the ingredients of a championship team.

"I think we got all the pieces to be successful. We got guys that have experienced what it's like to play in that final round. We got a champion already that's overseeing us. Monty's a champion as a coach. So we got guys that been there, and that's half the battle, just knowing what it takes."
