Pep Guardiola has emphasised the critical importance of Manchester City's match against Tottenham, suggesting that their aspirations for a historic fourth consecutive Premier League title hinge on the result.

With just two games remaining in the season for the champions, City trail league leaders Arsenal by a single point. The Gunners have only one match left, against Everton on the final day.

Guardiola's charges have displayed unwavering determination in recent Premier League fixtures, fueled by their ambition to secure a fourth consecutive top-flight title, an achievement yet to be accomplished by any English club.

What Guardiola said about City's poor record at Tottenham

However, the Spanish tactician acknowledges that their title ambitions could be severely dented by a misstep against Tottenham, a venue that has proven to be a banana peel for the Citizens.

"We played really good there many times but weren't able to score or win games," said Guardiola as cited by Eurosport, when asked about their record at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
"We are trying to do something special, so we have to do that this time. This is the time to do it; otherwise, Arsenal will be champions," he ended.

What is Man City's record at Tottenham's new stadium?

While Tottenham are not in the best of forms to face the Man City juggernaut, the historical dynamics between the two clubs, particularly when Spurs play at home, cannot be overlooked.

Since relocating to their new stadium, the Lilywhites have often outperformed City in Premier League encounters in North London.

According to Transfermarkt, Spurs have beaten Pep Guardiola's side in five out of their last six matches at home in all competitions, but in EPL terms, they are flawless against City.

Additionally, the defending champions have not scored a goal at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium in any of their EPL encounters since the Lilywhites relocated from White Hart Lane to their current grounds.

How does the Spurs vs City game affect the EPL title race?

If Manchester City's streak of losses in North London continues, it could have a significant impact on which club ends up lifting the EPL trophy on the final day.

Interestingly, Tottenham's potential to hinder City's title pursuit might inadvertently aid their fierce rivals, Arsenal.

The Gunners, eager to secure their first league trophy since the 2003–04 season, could find themselves depending on a positive outcome from their London counterparts to bolster their title aspirations.

If City, who are currently on 85 points, were to lose against Spurs, they would trail Arsenal (86) by a point heading into the final stretch of the season.

Meaning, should they manage to defeat Everton on the final day, Mikel Arteta's side would be in a prime position to secure the title regardless of the outcome of the Man City vs West Ham game.

Why do final EPL games start at the same time?

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Arsenal and Manchester City are engaged in a two-horse race for the Premier League trophy.

To maintain fairness and integrity, the tradition of scheduling all final games simultaneously has been upheld.

This practice prevents any potential unfair advantages or match-fixing scenarios, ensuring transparency in the outcomes.

It ensures that no team gains an undue advantage by playing earlier and knowing the results needed to secure the title or advance to the knockout stages.
