Lewis Hamilton has yet to make a decision on his Formula 1 future but F1 pundit Damon Hill thinks that there's little doubt that Hamilton will return.

Hamilton is awaiting the results of the inquiry into the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix before he decides on whether he returns to the sport.

Speaking to SkyF1, Damon Hill said that the chance to win an eighth World Driver's Championship would be too tempting for Hamilton to turn down, Wheels24 reported.

"He's getting to the end of his career, it may be many years or not, but he's got a lot in the bank. He might just think, 'I've done all I can do'.
"But I'm sure that an eighth title is just too tempting. I'm sure he'll want to come back, have it and lay all of this to rest. I think Lewis Hamilton fans feel very aggrieved because the way the decision went disadvantaged them, and they felt robbed. There's a lot of ill-feeling, Hill is quoted as saying in the Wheels24 article.

Aston Martin driver Sebastian Vettel is the favourite to replace Hamilton if he walks away from F1, The Express confirmed.

The news of Seb possible stepping into the Mercedes team has left social media divided, with many feeling that Lewis should leave instead of just threatening to.

@Justjanny58:

"He is acting like a spoilt brat let him just go... There are more people who are not so egotistical"

@PauloSe2541975:

"Good riddance if he does. Let's hope Toto is also considering leaving."

@padi_kau:

"He owes it to the future gen of black kids who want to aspire to successes. Seeing him up there goes a long way."

@CharliePorter12:

"Vettel will be shown up by George Russell if that happens."

Abu Dhabi Grand Prix inquiry underway, Lewis Hamilton to decide racing career pending outcome of investigation

In other Formula 1 news, the 2022 Formula 1 season will get underway in March but no one is certain whether seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton will be competing or not, Sports Brief earlier reported.

Lewis Hamilton has remained silent on his future since the controversial Abu Dhabi season-ending race in which Max Verstappen won the won title. The Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) has since launched an inquiry into the race and will be speaking to everyone involved, including race director Michael Masi, SkySports confirmed.

The FIA, which is motorsport's governing body hopes to complete the inquiry by 3 February 2022. They have promised that the process will be thorough, objective and transparent. Wheels24 have since confirmed that Lewis Hamilton's Formula 1 future depended on the outcome of the inquiry.
