  • Social media publisher SPORTSBible has posed a question about which football players get the most heat when things don't go well
  • It's an unfortunate practice which runs as part-and-parcel of sport, though they do have those who will defend them vehemently
  • Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane and Manchester City wing Raheem Sterling were unsurprisingly at the top of respondents' minds

Football fans have had their say on which players they believe unfairly bear the brunt when things are going wrong on the pitch.

It is a practice as old as time, singling out an individual (or individuals) for a team's performance, Whether it's how they play, how they look, what they sound like or where they come from, something will always aggravate the average football fan.

Social media publisher SPORTBible let people have their say on who takes the heat without reason.

@AliceTalksFooty said:

"Ronaldo and Bruno. The media blames them and not the midfield pivot or defence."

@HazzyLevy said:

"Harry Kane. His Prem and European numbers are world class but because he plays for Tottenham he 'hasn't won anything'. If he played for City his whole career he'd have 300 Premier League goals and 4 Premier League titles easy."

@LynxOwino said:

"Timo Werner. The guy has mastered the art of missing easy shots that instead of being praised it's overlooked... I mean not everybody wants to be C. Ronaldo?"

@SpursDoug said:

"Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling. Kane by just about everyone and the Sun talking about Sterling every 5 minutes."

@SoloAFrancis said:

"Phil Jones...I said what I said."

@Carefreemessi said:

"Mason Mount. You touch a ball and you're better than "Pason Pount" according to FT. Gets berated for everything by everyone."

@Pete_Owlsfan

"Carlton Palmer. Solid midfielder in the 90s, great for us and did a decent job for England. But lazy journalists and fans that never saw him play see him as an easy target."

Premier League club to ban parents of children who run onto the pitch

Leeds United has stated that it will hand out one-year bans to the parents of children who run onto the pitch to greet or ask for the shirts of players.

As reported by Sports Brief, Premier League fans have seen youngsters do this in recent times with an overwhelmingly positive response to their actions.

According to BBC Sport, a United media statement revealed that this is in fact a criminal offence.
