Shohei Ohtani just keeps winning in life.

The Japanese baseball star made a surprise announcement on Instagram on Thursday, sharing the news to his followers that he is now married.

The modern-day Babe Ruth grabbed the headlines last December when he signed a 10-year, $700 million deal to play for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

He once again shocked the world, this time with news about his private life.

He posted a message on the social media platform both in English and Japanese to address his fans about the happy news.

Ohtani's marriage announcement

Ohtani wrote:

"To all my friends and fans throughout, I have an announcement to make: Not only have I began a new chapter in my career with the Dodgers but I also have began a new life with someone from my Native country of Japan who is very special to me and I wanted everyone to know I am now married. I am excited for what is come and thank you for your support."

Fans react to marriage news

Fans of the Japanese star took to social media to offer their congratulations.

Ohtani is off to a great start in his Dodger career, hitting a home run in his first spring training game for the club since joining them late last year.

He blasted a two-run homer to left-center field, helping the Dodgers record a 9-6 win over the Chicago White Sox. He is expected to make his regular-season debut for Los Angeles this coming March in South Korea during the Seoul Series.
