  • The three-times African champions are currently without a coach following the disengagement of Eguavoen
  • Sunday Oliseh was once coach of the Super Eagles between 2015-2016 and walked away due to issues with the NFF

Sunday Oliseh has been reportedly identified as the possible replacement for Austin Eguavoen to handle the Super Eagles following the team's failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.

Recently, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) dismissed the Super Eagles coaching crew headed by Eguavoen and they are planning to name another coach for the three-times African champions.

Coach Eguavoen led the Super Eagles to the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon where the Nigerian side were eliminated in the knockout losing against Tunisia.

Sunday Oliseh was hired as the Super Eagles coach by the NFF in 2015, but the former international was only in charge for one year before he walked away.

How many games did Sunday Oliseh play for the Super Eagles?

Between the year 1993-2002, Sunday Oliseh featured in 54 games for the Super Eagles of Nigeria and was able to score two goals.

Francis Uzoho speaks for the first time after error cost Nigeria World Cup ticket

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho took to social media to apologize to Nigerians after the 3-time African Champions failed to qualify for the World Cup.

The 23-year-old was heavily criticized by fans as many felt he misjudged Thomas Partey's shot with the error gifting the Ghanaians a precious away goal.

Uzoho has now spoken for the first time since Nigeria's elimination and described the past few days as the worse moments in his life.

Nigeria failed to qualify for a 4th consecutive World Cup after the Super Eagles were held to a 1-1 draw by the Black Stars at the Moshood Abiola Stadium.

Nigeria had previously played a goalless draw away to the Black Stars, which meant the former African Champions were eliminated on the away goals rule.
