Super Eagles Goalkeeper Speaks for the First Time After Error Cost Nigeria World Cup Ticket

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho has taken to social media to apologize to Nigerians after the 3-time African Champions failed to qualify for the World Cup.

The 23-year-old was heavily criticized by fans as many felt he misjudged Thomas Partey's shot with the error gifting the Ghanaians a precious away goal.

Uzoho has now spoken for the first time since Nigeria's elimination and described the past few days as the worse moments in his life.

"This past couple of days have been the worst in my lifetime. I wanted to take my nation to Qatar but rather did the opposite.
"I know what football means to you all and to myself, I can’t promise not to make mistakes again but I can promise not to give up until I bring back that smile on your faces."

Nigeria failed to qualify for a 4th consecutive World Cup after the Super Eagles were held to a 1-1 draw by the Black Stars at the Moshood Abiola Stadium.

Nigeria had previously played a goalless draw away to the Black Stars, which meant the former African Champions were eliminated on the away goals rule.

Vincent Enyeama defends Francis Uzoho after a costly mistake

Meanwhile, former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama has exonerated Francis Uzoho of any blame despite fans' backlash on the current Nigeria shot-stopper.

According to Ghanaweb, Enyeama rather pleaded for the Nigerian fans to support the present national team goalkeepers as they need the confidence.

Both Maduka Okoye and Francis Uzoho have been criticized heavily by fans following the Super Eagles' early exit at the Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup play-offs elimination.

Leon Balogun speaks after Nigeria fail to qualify for World Cup

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Leon Balogun has pleaded for the forgiveness of Nigerians after the Super Eagles failed in their attempt to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Nigeria got eliminated from the biggest football competition to be staged in Qatar after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Ghana at the Moshood Abiola Stadium.

Leon Balogun in a post on Instagram revealed that the failure to qualify for the World Cup was the darkest moment in his eight years of playing for the Super Eagles.
