Thanks to his heroics for Chelsea, the England international is a strong contender to be the Premier League's Player of the Season and is expected to be among the nominees for the PFA Players' Player of the Year.

On Wednesday, the 22-year-old was up to his usual tricks, finding the Blues' opening goal against Brighton at the Amex Stadium with a glancing header from Marc Cucurella’s cross.

Christopher Nkunku added a second after the break, as Brighton tried to mount a comeback in vain despite Danny Welbeck halving the deficit late on, as per the BBC.

Prior to kick-off, fans noticed Palmer had an interesting image as his phone’s lock screen.

The forward’s phone contained an image of the PFA Players' Player of the Year trophy, suggesting he was targeting the coveted piece of silverware in this year’s ceremony.

Can Palmer win PFA Player of the season?

While there is no denying Palmer’s immense talent and footballing prowess this season, the former Man City man could face stiff competition for the PFA Player of the Year.

The Citizens' Erling Haaland, plus Arsenal's Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard, are all strong candidates to win the award.

According to Football 365, possible contenders are William Saliba (Arsenal), Phil Foden (Manchester City), Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa), and Kevin de Bruyne (Manchester City).

In the past, big names like Riyad Mahrez, N’golo Kante, Eden Hazard, and Mohamed Salah were named the PFA Player of the Year.
