Highly-rated Ghanaian defender, Mohammed Salisu, does not want to play for the Black Stars, according to football administrator, Alhaji Karim Grusah.

Grusah, a close friend to Salisu's family, tried to convince the 22-year-old to accept an invite to the Black Stars, but he flatly denied.

In an interview with Atinka FM, Grusah revealed the Southampton ace was furious when he contacted him and asked him to 'stay away from the matter'.

"The Black Stars Chairman tasked me to speak to Salisu cos he's from Kumasi. I called his dad & he linked me to him. Salisu flatly told me to stay away from his matter. He questioned me that if he was my son, would I advise him to play for Ghana?," said Alhaji Grusah.
"I'm not the only person who has spoken to him. I know CK Akunnor went to him, he said he won't play. Even the GFA President said he found where his mother stays and went to her. I don't know what happened but the Salisu is not ready to play," he added.

Salisu first earned a call up when Charles Kwablan Akonnor was named manager of the Black Stars but reportedly asked for time to sought out his club career.

However, after almost a year now, the defender is still not interested to honoring an invite despite Ghanaians calling for him to be included in the Black Stars team.

Ghanaians rave over Salisu's performance against City

Earlier, SportsBrief.com reported that, Mohammed Salisu has got the internet talking after his monstrous performance for Southampton as they ended Manchester City's 12-game winning run on Saturday.

The 22-year-old's swashbuckling performance has seen him become the first player to reach 50 interceptions in the English Premier League this season.

Ghanaian football fans took to Twitter to praise the center-back, hoping he will honour a call to the Black Stars especially following the country's poor performance at AFCON.
