Shauwn Mkhize is adamant that her side will not be remembered as one-season wonders.

MaMkhize’s team are competing in their first season in the DStv Premiership and are defying expectations.

Currently, Thwihli Thwahla are in third place but have two games in hand and are favourites to secure second place in the league. The KZN outfit will be looking to finish the season strong and continue that momentum next season.

South Africa has experienced many teams coming into the DStv Premiership, punching above their weight, and failing drastically the following season.

Sowetan LIVE reported that MaMkhize isn’t focusing on what the other sides have done.

“We don’t want to be compared with anyone. People must allow us the space and know Royal AM as Royal AM. You can’t compare us to anyone because we have our own identity and let’s keep it like that,” she said.

While the side are keen to perform next season, they also are focused on securing a CAF qualification spot. The second-placed team goes to the CAF Champions League while the third-placed team goes to the CAF Confederation Cup.

Recently MaMKhize spoke about the pressure her team was under in the race for the CAF spots, iDiskiTimes reported.

“I must say, even the position that we’re sitting at now, it’s still a milestone for Royal AM. What they’ve done, they’ve exceeded my expectations as the president of the club.”

Royal AM plays Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday 21 May and then Orlando Pirates on 29 May.

Shauwn Mkhize and her Royal AM side proved that there is more to their lives than just football. The KwaZulu-Natal side used their weekend to spread hope and joy to the people of the province, Sports Brief reported.

As reported by KickOff, Thwihli Thwahla visited three locations around KZN with a truckload of groceries, assisting communities devastated by the flooding in the province. Approximately 435 people were killed in the floods while over 41 000 were affected by the disaster.

With death and destruction rife in the province as a result of the floods, MaMkhize’s side showed the softer sides by donating groceries to the community. Members of the team, technical squad and even management were all part of the initiative.
