German international Antonio Rudiger seems to aim a cheeky jibe at his former club Chelsea after signing for Spanish giants Real Madrid.
The centre-back failed to agree on a new deal with the Premier League club as he moves to the Spanish capital to play for the European champions next season.
During his unveiling, Rudiger acknowledged Real Madrid is a big club, crediting the La Liga side for the number of Champions League titles they have won.
The defender also declared that he is also there to win titles. He told the club's website:
“The most important thing at Real Madrid is winning, they have shown that with the titles and Champions Leagues they've won over the years.
"The most important thing here is winning, that's been shown throughout the years in the titles and all the Champions League trophies they've won. Even when there are doubts outside the club, Real Madrid has been able to achieve things and it's been incredible".
“The match I played with Chelsea at the Bernabéu was special, so intense. It was my first time playing at the Santiago Bernabéu.
"The match went pretty well for the team and it was an incredible feeling for me. After the third goal, there was still a really positive atmosphere. I took away amazing feelings and having the chance to play for a club like this is unbelievable.
“My family are thrilled with the opportunity because they know how big this club is. They don't know much about football but they know who Real Madrid are. It was a straightforward decision.”
