  • Cristiano Ronaldo's second season during his second stint at Manchester United is unravelling in ways not many people could have thought of
  • The prolific goalscorer has only scored one goal this campaign as he struggles to impress Erik ten Hag for regular starting berths
  • He could leave the club in January should he find another club ready to save him from his misfortunes

It is no longer a secret that Cristiano Ronaldo is having the worst season of his football career. Considered one of the best football players ever, his football legacy is under threat as he continues to struggle under Erik ten Hag.

It all started when unconfirmed reports intimated that he wanted to quit the Old Trafford club following their failure to qualify for the Champions League.

He skipped ten Hag's maiden pre-season training and has struggled to be a regular fixture in the starting XI.

He had a fallout with the head coach after he refused to come on against Tottenham Hotspur on 19th October. This was quickly resolved and he has since started all the games after being dropped against Chelsea.

More fouls than shots on target

However, a statistic by ESPN shows that Ronaldo, despite having scored over 700 club goals in his career, has somehow forgotten where the back of the net is this season. For a player who used to average at least 40 goals a season, he has only scored one Premier League goal.

The statistic shows that the five-time Ballon d'Or winner has actually committed more fouls than he has had shots on target.

He could look to leave the club in January, but before that, he has the opportunity to redeem himself at the World Cup by guiding Portugal to glory.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Tyronne Mings clash

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Aston Villa vs Manchester United Premier League clash was marked with dramatic scenes as players clashed midway through the match.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Tyrone Mings sparked the huge brawl after the duo wrestled each other to the ground.

Ronaldo came to blows with the English star while the Red Devils were on the attack.
